I'm constantly messaged by people who want to get into porn but don't know what equipment to buy or use. It's getting to be such a common conversation that I wanted to take some time and write down everything we use in shooting our amateur porn right here...
Lights
I talk about lighting a lot in this post. But it's a topic most people still don't understand. Lighting is often far more important than your camera or anything else you're going to use to make porn. You see, if you don't have enough light then the camera (no matter how good) simply won't take a good video. Your footage will end up dark and noisy (grainy).
Unless you're shooting outside in the sun, you need to add lighting. There might be some indoor exceptions to that, if you have enough sunlight flooding your room for example, but 9 out of 10 times you'll need to add light. Turn on all lights you have in your room but then get one of these LED stand lights (better yet, get this two pack). This will be the single best investment you'll make. If you have a GoPro then get an LED light for that as well.
Cameras
First off, you already have a camera on your phone which will work in a pinch. If you're just getting started then use what you have. Just make sure to turn your phone sideways (landscape) and NEVER shoot vertically (portrait). Use the "flash" LED on your camera as well but don't hold it too close to the action. Get a handle for your phone as well or mount it on a tripod.
When you're ready to upgrade there are zillions of cameras to choose from. We use a Sony A6400 and GoPro Hero 7 Black and shoot in 4K. The new GoPro 8 is a better option if you don't have a GoPro 7 already and plan to buy a new GoPro. Shooting with two cameras let's you grab two angles at a time which makes for a more interesting video and gives you extra footage in case something goes wrong with one camera while shooting (it will happen!).
For the Sony A6400, we use this cheap tripod and it works fine (though it is cheap and won't stand the test of time but for the price it's just fine). For the GoPro a telescoping handle is a good option.
Action (er, toys, lube, outfits, and everything else)
Let's start with lube, because you'll want a lot of it. We like virgin coconut oil the best. It may not be compatible with all of your silicon toys and may melt some of them, though we haven't had issues there yet. You also need to see if it is okay to use with condoms, if you use them, as not all lubes work with condoms and some will break the latex in condoms down and cause them to fail. Do your research!
We get almost all of our lingerie on Amazon, they have a huge selection and it's usually a fraction of the price of a local sex shop. They have vibrators and other sex toys as well.
Post Production
After you're done shooting you'll need to do several things. First up is copy your video files to your computer. From there you'll want to backup them up to an external hard drive. We actually backup our data to TWO backup drives in case one dies. We like these 4Tb drives the best as they are USB3 and do not need an external power source. When the fill up we buy two more and store the two that are full in two separate locations for safe keeping.
You'll then need to edit your raw video and render it out using a video editing program. Sure, you could pay a monthly subscription for Adobe Premier but that's for fools. Instead, download a completely free copy of Davinci Resolve here. There is a paid version of the software as well but you won't need that as the free version will do everything you want (and more). It's an excellent program and it's easy to learn with plenty of tutorials you can Google around for.
So there you have it, that's everything we use. If you like what you read please use my links above as that helps support me. If you really liked this, feel free to buy something on my Wish List too :)
