If you're at all serious about making porn then you need to learn how to edit your videos. Sure, amateur porn can be as simply as point your iThing at your junk and uploading it. But real pro-amateurs know that video editing is a key to success.
As I've talked about here and here, the best video editing software is Davinci Resolve. Even better, it's 100% free! But they also offer a paid version known as Davinci Resolve Studio. It's the same as the free version with some extra bells and whistles that the majority of porn makers will never need.
Davinci Resolve (DR) is free but Davinci Resolve Studio (DRS) costs around $300 USD. So why pay $300 for features you'll never need? Most of you wouldn't and that's okay. But Stefano and I got to a point where we're making money in porn (see our Porn Reports for the exact amounts) and we felt that it was only right that we purchase DRS for $300 as a way to support them for helping us make money.
In this day of electronic downloads this should have been an easy process that took seconds. But it's not. The company that makes DR and DRS is called Blackmagic Design but you can't buy DSR directly from them. Instead, you have to purchase from a reseller.
What makes this so odd is that what you're purchasing when you buy DRS is simply a serial number and then you download the latest version from Blackmagic's website. Normally I'd buy from Amazon (which you can do right here via my affiliate link) and now I wish I had. Instead, I bought from B&H Photo which I now regret.
Years ago I used B&H but my last experience was not good. I bought a camera and they tried to upsell me stuff I didn't need or want over the phone after placing an order on their website. So I never used them again. Fast forward many years and I foolishly thought they improved. They haven't.
The first problem is with their website which won't let you checkout on a Saturday. The have a note about some religious stuff and it being the Sabbath. It's a Jewish religious thing where they're not allowed to work on Saturday which is totally fine, but you really have to shut down your website as well?
So I bought on a Sunday. After checkout I saw a note saying they wouldn't even process my order until Wednesday. What? Why? All I'm buying is a serial number. Really, you could email it to me! Instead, I had to pay $3.99 for shipping of a serial number. It finally shipped SIX DAYS LATER! Only, it hadn't. It didn't really move to the shipper until another FIVES DAYS later (so 11 days after ordering). It took a full 2 weeks to reach me. Amazon Prime this was not.
Annoying as that was, it's not my main issue. When it arrived I opened it and discovered they shipped me a serial number for DR15. I checked my order and it shows that I bought DR16 (the latest version) so why did I get DR15? Yes, the DR15 serial WILL work for DR16. Blackmagic Design is great about upgrades and offer them for free, so far. But I paid for DR16 so why did I get a DR15 serial?
I emailed B&H assuming it was a mistake. Their reply...
...which blew me away. They admitted that they're advertising v16 but shipping v15 and don't care at all. Yes, the upgrade from 15 to 16 is free. But what if Blackmagic decides that from now on customers only get 1 version upgrade. If they do that then I just used my 1 version upgrade and I won't get v17 when it comes out.
I emailed back to B&H and explained that what they're doing is false advertising and they need to correct and simply got this back...
...so they clearly are aware of their false advertising practices. People, you cannot sell something as one name/version and ship an older version. This is the very definition of false advertising and that's illegal, not to mention just wrong. It makes an another great product a little less great. If you want to ship DR15 then call it something like "DR15 which upgrades to DR16 for free" and then it's not false advertising.
So I am now reminded why I stopped buying from B&H Photo and will never, ever buy anything else from them ever again. I suggest you avoid them like the plague as well.

As for Davinci Resolve 15 packaging being received as opposed to Davinci Resolve 16, Blackmagic has produced a tremendous amount of packaging for Resolve 15 even when Resolve 16 was in beta. Unfortunately units with Resolve 15 packaging that are in inventory can be shipped out. For years Davinci Resolve license keys allowed one to upgrade to the latest version once released at no cost. Blackmagic has felt taking back and making adjustments to the packaging wasn't necessary as upgrading to the latest version is free.

I am very sorry, this is how Resolve Studio 16 is sold to us, we are unable to change this. It includes a free upgrade, I am sorry for the misunderstanding.
